Anggar Prasetyo was born in Cilacap, Central Java. He graduated from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts as a painting major in 1991. Among his solo exhibitions are “TEXTURE/STRUCTURE 2” at the Sangkring Art Space (Yogyakarta, 2014), “TEXTURE/STRUCTURE” at Valentine Willie Fine Art (Yogyakarta, 2011), “Bahasa Tubuh” (Body Language) at Ary’s Gallery (Yogyakarta, 2005), and “Improvisation of Aesthetic” at Regent Hotel (Jakarta, 2004). Notable recent joint and group exhibitions Prasetyo has taken part in are “Love Live Life”at Pullman Jakarta Central Park (2015), “Let it Go Let it Flow” and “ANGGAR & LAKSMI: Re(Pro) Kreatif” at Jogja Contemporary Art (Bentara Budaya Yogyakarta & Bentara Budaya Solo, 2015). Prasetyo’s awards include the
34th UOB Southeast Asian Painting of the Year (Singapore, 2015) and 34th UOB Painting of the Year (Jakarta, 2015). His wife is fellow artist Laksmi Shitaresmi.
