“Perhaps it’s impossible to wear an identity without becoming what you pretend to be”

—Orson Scott Card, Ender’s Game

The exhibition features the works of young, emerging artists from Indonesia who share a dedication to their craft and a desire to grow as artists. Their diverse backgrounds and artistic styles are reflected in their works, which range from grappling with themes of identity, balance, and nature to incorporating personal experiences into their compositions. Some artists experiment with blending various techniques and media, while others take a more emotional or realistic approach.

The works of Abdul Aziz (Dul) capture the essence of Ranu Kumbolo through his abstract vision on canvas, while Begok Oner’s realistic paintings take on forgotten public spaces that have lost their importance. Firdaus Apin’s work centers around memories of significant objects from his childhood, and Mikhael Yesyurun integrates his limitations and imperfections into his artistic expression.

Nick23 (Nick) prefers to use empty walls as his medium to reclaim his sense of artistic freedom, while Rifki Arrofik’s work poses the question of existence in a world where people seem indifferent to their surroundings. Raka Adityatama emphasizes the importance of empathy in today’s world, while Uukwuzhere (Uuk) explores the value of interconnectivity and friendship.

Ultimately, the exhibition offers a unique perspective on the younger generation of Indonesian artists and their values, beliefs, and anxieties. Their works demonstrate that art can be a powerful medium for self-expression and reflection on the world around us.
